Setting the Needle Positioning System

The battle continues but I'm getting there. I stopped by Advance Auto and bought a longer V-Belt so I could pull the speed reducer. Apparently the servo motor that comes with the machine is an either/or: speed reducer or NPS but not both. I understand a higher end motor can handle both but before I buy I want to get the machine running efficiently both ways and decide then. I have NPS on my Bernina and did not have it on the Sailrite. I had no problem stopping the Sailrite with a buried needle but have yet to pull that off with the JL. Here's the process I've gone through to set up the NPS and I've got it to stop in the same spot, unfortunately that spot is not buried.
